One of the critical goals of the community care system is to integrate the persons with psychiatric disabilities into the community. This study examines the process of associations among social support, the perception to the agency environment, perceived stigma, self-esteem, and community integration. A total of 432 clients who are utilizing the community-based mental health service agencies were analyzed, employing the Structural Equation Model. Findings indicate that social support have the strongest effect on community integration. Two aspects of self-esteem are revealed. Self-worth mediated the relationship of social support from family and others to community integration. Perceived stigma mediated the relationship between social support from mental health professionals and self-deprecation. Social work implications of the findings were addressed.
